Penni Askew is a fiction and narrative nonfiction line and copy editor working with independent authors. She sees herself as a coach, mentor, and cheerleader rolled into one person helping authors bring their best book to their readers. She does this by providing comments to authors on what is working, what is not working, and how the author might revise. Clients have called her suggestions compact and powerful, helping make the author’s voice shine.
Penni began her editorial career as an intern in 2015 and started her own business in 2017 and has edited over 100 books. She has earned her certificate in copyediting from the University of California-San Diego Extended Studies and continues her professional development by taking classes, attending webinars, and going to conferences. She is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, ACES: the Society for Editing, and the Professional Editors Network.
Penni grew up in Colorado and spent a lot of time on her grandfather’s ranch (now run by her cousins) and only as an adult appreciates the experience during lambing/calving and haying seasons. She lives in North Texas with her family where she enjoys listening to audiobooks, knitting, and playing with her dog.
